The system that syncs data between my phone and two computers has got screwed up lately, and I have been trying to fix it. In the process of doing that, I came across this piece of official Apple advice on the matter:
As if it were a swarm of bees, you should stay away from the SyncServices folder in Mac OS X.
Arguably, that advice should apply to the whole prospect of syncing using Apple’s MobileMe service. The MobileMe service has all the right information, which should make fixing the problem fairly simple: replace all the information on the computers with the information from the service, and then start over. Unfortunately, the computers remain convinced that there is some kind of conflict somewhere, because despite Apple’s assurances to the contrary, there appears to be no way at all to get the computer to actually believe that it’s got a good copy of the data.
