David Lynch Moment

Today, while waiting for a traffic signal at Herndon Parkway and Spring St. in Herndon, I looked in my rearview mirror and saw an man in a Toyota Camry rather animatedly playing a harmonica. He kept it up until the light changed, and then put it down in order to free his hands for driving.

Animatedly, huh? That’s a hell of a mental picture.

Weirdest thing I can remember seeing at a stoplight is someone flossing. I followed her to another stoplight, and she resumed flossing there. Ugh.

Just the other week while at a stop light, I glaced over to the car next to me to see the driver very enthusiastically singing while playing a tambourine. I could not hear the music, but his facial contortions suggested a deeply emotional blues or gospel number. Come to think of it, he kind of looked like Moby. Wonder if Moby drives a Cavalier?

While on my way to Houston from St. Louis and just after crossing the Oklahoma state line, I passed a large travel trailer and van on the side of the road.

Sitting in the grass, cross-legged and in a row, was a large family, deep in prayer. I think they were praying for the alternator fairy, or the radiator fairy, or maybe to some other god. It was hard to tell.
