This song has been stuck in my head for almost a month now, ever since the WGN Yule Log broadcast.
The Three Little Dwarfs [sic], 4.2mb Quicktime.

Every December one of the local stations plays “Classic Holiday Cartoons” each night before the 6pm news. I’d never seen “Hardrock, Coco and Joe” before I moved here.
First time I saw it, though, my initial reaction was “Santa looks Mongoloid”.
And now I’m going to have that damn song stuck in my head for the rest of the day.
Comment by Twonk 01.12.05 @ 09:07I remember watching the Hardrock, Coco, and Joe and Suzy Snowflake “videos” as a child in the Chicago television area, on WGN. I think the television children’ show host, Ray Rayner, played them on his show. Or it could have been on Garfiel Goose and Friends. Does anyone else remember these? email me at shinskin785@aol.com.
Comment by Anonymous 02.03.05 @ 20:59This is a priceless piece of growing up in Chicago… I left shortly before graduating high school and still live elsewhere, but I found that there’s some Chicago in my kids… We saw HARDROCK, COCO, AND JOE and SUZY SNOWFLAKE recently on YouTube and they’re hooked… Guess you can take the boy from Chicago, but you can’t take Chicago from the boy– or for that matter, the boy’s kids.
Comment by John 04.15.07 @ 07:54It is beautiful. It harkens to a time of Hot Chocolate, Christmas lists, and playing in the snow. A time when you didn’t have a worry in the world, and everything was magic. When getting out the Christmas lights was the start of everything beautiful. I hope I never forget it.

Yes it is in black in white. It is fuzzy. But hauntingly beautiful. It conjures up memories of being a child, with the magic of the season. I hope they never stop playing it. I would rather have those times back tban any other time in my history.

Comment by Tom 11.24.07 @ 22:27The Holiday season is over. Just New Years to go. In this modern Computer time it is nice to know that Hardrock Coco and Joe can come back at our chooseing. I remember feeling a little bit sad when they would come to an end on Garefield Goose way back when. I will never grow tired of it from when I was 8 to now at 58. It is timeless.

Comment by George 12.26.07 @ 17:41How wonderful that we now know who made these Holiday Classics. I doubt today that anyone could make such a magical short, even with the modern computer software aviable. So more than ever this time of the year….. Enjoy the magic it brings.
George.
